Project guidance

What the condition of a floor tells us.

A selection of marble, limestone, slate, travertine and tiled-floor projects from the original RJ Services archive.

02
TOPIC 02

Tile and grout projects

Ceramic and porcelain projects often focus on releasing detergent film, grease and tracked-in soil from tile texture and grout lines, then recovering that contamination instead of moving it across the room. Quarry and terracotta projects may add coating removal, controlled drying and compatible sealing. The project scope records damaged joints, permanently marked areas and any protection selected after cleaning.

03
TOPIC 03

Marble and natural-stone projects

Stone projects can combine cleaning with honing, polishing, filling, scratch reduction, lippage grinding, repair or sealing. The chosen depth depends on the stone, thickness, existing finish and wear. A restored floor should still look like its original material. The goal is a balanced, maintainable finish rather than an artificial shine applied without regard for the stone or the way the room is used.

04
TOPIC 04

Why photographs need context

Lighting, camera exposure and wet surfaces can exaggerate the difference between images. Project notes therefore matter as much as a dramatic photograph. Useful documentation identifies the material, starting condition, treatment stages and realistic limitations. Results on one property do not guarantee an identical change on another floor with different stone, installation, coatings, damage or maintenance history.

05
TOPIC 05

Domestic and commercial planning

In homes, furniture, pets, family access and drying time shape the schedule. In hospitality, retail and office settings, the work may be divided into zones so safe access can continue. RJ Services discusses preparation, protection, power and water access, noise, ventilation and return to service before treatment. These practical decisions help the technical work produce a result that can be handed back sensibly.

06
TOPIC 06

Discuss a similar floor

If a project resembles your floor, send photographs in natural light and describe what you can feel as well as see: roughness, raised edges, open holes, sticky residue, loose grout or rapid water absorption. Include the approximate area and Cork location. RJ Services can compare the symptoms with the relevant service and advise whether a quotation, site survey or discreet treatment test should come next.

Useful answers

Questions about planning the work.

Need an answer about your exact surface? Send photographs and room or item details.

01How long does professional tile cleaning take?+

Most domestic projects are completed in one visit. The exact time depends on area, soil, access and whether sealing or polishing is included.

02Do you move furniture?+

Light movable items can usually be repositioned. Fragile, valuable or very heavy furniture should be cleared by the customer or a specialist.

03Is the process safe for children and pets?+

Products and methods are selected for the surface and rinsed. Children and pets should stay away until the floor is ready for use.

04Can every stain be removed?+

No responsible cleaner can promise that. Permanent dye change, etching, deep oil migration, damaged grout and coating failure may remain visible.
